In Las Vegas with my AWESOME baby sister, Lisa. Yep, Mom's baby girl and baby boy doing Vegas together. I think we kind of look like The Matrix on casual Friday, don't you?
4-20-2009, John O'Hurley stopped in for an interview on one of our stations and graciously posed for pictures. He was in Anchorage playing King Arthur in the musical Monty Python's Spamalot. And we will always remember him as J. Peterman from Seinfeld and those GCI commercials.
Thanks for scrolling down this far. That mouse must feel heavy. Let's take a moment to relax with this musical interlude: BRIAN'S AWESOME 80'S VID PICK.

Here is a video I found while looking for a video for my blog. Its a cover of One Year of Love, my favorite song by Queen. This intimate, acousitic version by Stevie Ann really lets you hear her beautiful voice. You can even see people in the studio booth behind her as they go about their business. They probably couldn't hear this outstanding performance through the glass.
And here is ANOTHER cover of a Queen song. Let's see if you can name all of the artists.
You've bought the chocolates and flowers, made the reservations, and chilled the champagne. But now ask yourself...did you remember YOUR SONG? Remember? The special song that you fell in love to? Well, that's where I come in.
BRIAN ROSS: YOUR PERSONAL CUPID!
I want to help make your Valentine's Day a little extra special. Tune in as I play your favorite love songs.
Call me at 279-0989 this Valentines Day between 2 and 7pm (that's Alaska time, online stream listeners) to make your own request and dedication to your special someone.
You can also email a request to me in advance at brianross@clearchannel.com, or post a dedication on Magic 98.9's Facebook Page. I'll be checking both during my shift.
Once again I was proud to emcee the Ski For Women at Kincaid Park. It was originally and accident, but now has become tradition that it happens on Super Bowl Sunday.
Over 1400 women were registered, and they braved single/teen digit temps and a nasty breeze to help a worthy cause. Many came in costumes, hopefully designed for warmth as well as show.

The Alaska Ski For Women raises money, and awareness, to help stop the cyle of domestic abuse against women and children. It donates it's proceeds to several local charities, and so Magic 98.9 and I are proud to support this event.
THANK YOU to the many volunteers, corporate and individual sponsors, and to the women who skiied. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!!
The Alaska Ski For Women is coming up this Sunday at Kincaid Park. I'll be there to emcee the event and help judge the costume contest again this year. Spectators are welcome--first wave ski's at 10am.
And there are some important deadlines coming up for participants.
LATE REGISTRATION/BIB PICKUP will be on February 3rd from noon until 7pm at the REI Community Room.
And there is even ski waxing being done before the first wave, from 9am unti 10am on Sunday. It's going to be a fun event, and remember that the Ski For Women helps support local charities, and raises money and awareness to help stop the cycle of abuse against women and children. See you there!
ALSO: over the weekend I tagged along with April as the official Magic 98.9 photographer (and sample taster!) when House of Bread rolled out their 100 POUND CINNAMON ROLL during their grand opening.
Here is the photo album of the event. And let me be very clear...the BIG CINNY's massive hugeness was only exceded by it's gigantic deliciousness. I verified this with about 4 seperate samples. FYI.
...And would that make me his little pal, Snowzooky?
Over the weekend after game night with friends (including my best frenemy from a competing radio station whom I won't identify, but her name rhymes with CLAMBER), I was close enough to make a pilgrimage to see the perennial great snow man of Anchorage.
That is one HUGE snow dude!! In fact, it's so huge, it gets to use the "Y" on the word....he's YUGE!! He eats OTHER snowmen like...well...like they were snowcones.
So many people come by to visit Snowzilla that you usually won't have a problem finding someone to take the picture with your camera. This was the best photo we could get with my ANDROID phone camera at night.
And here's another big snow picture. A friend told me that where she was at they have TWO FEET OF SNOW!!
Veeery funny! I love snow sculpture pictures. If you see something fun or creative made of snow, send it to me at brianross@clearchannel.com.
Now, there's a BIG SNOW EVENT coming up on Sunday, February 6th--The 15th Annual Alaska Ski For Women. It's the largest all women's ski event in North America, and I'll be there to emcee and judge the costume contest.
It's a fun event that helps out local charities. For more info and pictures, scroll down to my previous blog entry.
And before I log off, here's a look at BIG SNOW OF YORE...a photo album from way back in "aught seven" of the Furrondy snow sculptures. I can't wait to see the new ones this year.
Once again, I am honored to be emceeing The Alaska Ski for Women. It will be at Kincaid Park on Sunday, February 6th.
While other people are at home watching some sort of supposedly important football thing on TV, the largest women's only ski event in North America will be raising money and awareness to help stop the cycle of domestic abuse against women and children. Put THAT in your BOWL and poor some milk over it, NFL.
The 15th annual ASFW is a fun, and very colorful event that helps local non-profit organizations. There are several waves and different events to fit various ages, skill levels, and skiing styles. Timed events and an untimed "party wave" are happening.
AND THE COSTUME CONTEST IS FANTASTIC!! I also get to be a judge again this year. Check out the my photo album from last year.
For more info on the costume contest and to register to ski, click here.
I also recommend that you carpool. Parking filled up and people were lined up down the road. SEE YOU AT KINCAID!
Events in Arizona have affected us all in different ways. They got me very depressed over the weekend.
Rather than let senseless tragedy make me feel helpless and sad, I would rather focus on positive events, inspiring people, and any number of the things that I can do to make this world a better one, and I hope you do as well.
With that in mind, I'd like to ask for your support for MISTY NESVICK, a friend and account exec here at Magic 98.9 and Clear Channel. In addition to getting me involved in the challenging BIKE MS ride last September, Misty is captain of MISTY'S MAVERICKS. Her team will be beating feet around Lake Hood this April in WALK MS.
Lookin' good in orange, Misty (center, crouching lowest). And if you happen to regognize the guy holding the baby, that's her husband Robb, my team captain who pedalled along with me on Bike MS (see photo albums).
Misty is also one of millions of people with Multiple Sclerosis.
Her attitude toward the disease, though, is nothing less than inspiring, "I have MS. MS doesn't have me."
To support Misty's Maverick's with a donation, or if you'd like be a part of Walk MS, or to simple find out more about Multiple Sclerosis, please click here.
I'll keep this link available on the left of my page too, so please forward it along to your friends.
WHAT WILL I DO TO MAKE 2011 EVEN BETTER THAN 2010?
I actually wrote out my New Year's Resolutions (because if they aren't written down, they are just New Year's Speculations). I tested them on my Facebook page, and now I am going to chisel them in stone--metaphorically--here on my Magic 98.9 blog.
1.BIKING THROUGH THE WINTER AT LEAST 3 TIMES A WEEK. I will use my stationary bike or my regular bike hooked up to a trainer. And I will do "hot biking" when I can. That's sort of like Hot Yoga...turn up the heat, turn on the TV, line up the water bottles and pedal away.
2.NO MORE ATM FEES IN ANCHORAGE!! If I need cash at work or around town, I will find an ATM from my credit union or one that doesn't have fees.
3.Pack my lunch for work. Pay for lunch no more than once a week. That way, I'll spend fewer dollars and cut my calories, too.
Gots to have my PB&J!
4.Drop at least two pant sizes. Why not say, "lose weight?" Have you seen my LEGS?! They're HUGE from biking...with solid, heavy muscle. It's nearly impossible to buy winter boots because my calves have grown into bulls! So, I'm going by inches around the waist and not pounds on a scale.
5. Update my official Magic 98.9 Blog at least twice a week. There are times when the systems we use at work get frustratingly slow (Noooo! Not at Magic!!). Yes, it is not always a picnic behind the scenes here...we have our IT problems just like everybody else (how is that for "relating with listeners," Boss?).
This is similar to my "I'm updating the blog" face.
6. Find something POSITIVE in each day. Odds are pretty good that it WON'T be about how smoothly my blog updates are going.
7. Pay off credit cards (which I DID do this year), and then keep them paid off (which I did NOT do this year). Fortunately, the balances on them are not tremendous...like when I was in my 20's.
8.Increase the money I put toward retirement (which should be easy if I do Numbers 2, 3, and 7).
Well, there you have my New Year's Resolutions. If you meet up with me, feel free to ask me which one's I've given up on. I wish you good fortune in 2011.
Welcome 2011, and here's hoping that it's a good year for all.
And let's start by posting a new photo album. Some of these pics of the POLAR PLUNGE FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS were posted on Facebook by me or Mark Tankersley. Well, here they are all together in one place. Sorry for the delay, but I was on vacation and this is the first chance I had to make an photo album.
This was a great way to end the year, helping to raise money for Special Olympics. And here's a great way to start 2011.
Magic 98.9 is bringing you a 98 MINUTE MUSIC MARATHON each weekday starting at around 8:30, right after Access Hollywood. Ease into your workday with OVER an hour and a half of commercial free music.
